ABOUT SHIFT ACCESSIBILITY/PROJECTS

We are a fast-growing, Calgary-based home renovation company specializing in blending accessibility with exceptional design. Our projects focus on intentional renovations that enable people of all abilities to live beautifully, safely, and with dignity in their homes.

We work on mid to high-end renovations, always aiming to combine form and function. Now six years in, we’re growing fast and focused on improving our internal systems so we can continue delivering excellent experiences for our clients—and this is where you come in.

We’re looking for a detail-driven Estimator who not only knows how to put numbers together, but is also passionate about improving how estimating is done. You’ll help refine our unit rates, standardize scopes of work, manage job costing, and leverage technology and AI to improve accuracy and efficiency.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF:

  • You’re organized, detail-oriented, and love solving complex problems.
  • You can estimate from drawings, sketches, site photos, or videos with minimal direction.
  • You have construction knowledge—ideally in residential renovations or home building.
  • You’re confident using software tools and exploring new tech to streamline workflows.
  • You’re a self-starter who thrives on improving systems and documenting best practices.
  • You love working as part of a team but are comfortable working independently.

THE ROLE:

  • Prepare accurate and thorough estimates for residential renovation projects.
  • Collaborate with the sales team using drawings, sketches, photos, and video documentation.
  • Build and continuously improve estimating processes and documentation.
  • Update and refine unit rates, historical cost databases, and scope templates.
  • Develop standardized estimating and scope-of-work systems across the company.
  • Complete job costing on active and completed projects, reporting on expenses and profits to project managers and owners.
  • Input vendor bills and invoices into the project management software to ensure current and accurate job costing.
  • Manage the financial estimating and reporting for all projects.
  • Work closely with project managers and sales team members to support project planning, execution, and review.
  • Implement and manage digital tools, AI, and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

THE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two (2) years of estimating experience or formal education in estimating/construction management.
  • Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and project documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with construction technology, estimating tools, and workflow automation.
  • Experience in residential renovations is a strong asset.
  • Proficient with job costing practices and financial reporting within project-based work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Manage an office, helping to ensure the company meets profitability goals and exceeds client expectations.
  • Maintain and update construction management software regularly with Accounts Payable, file organization, vendor information, etc.
  • Manage company information such as employee information, fleet management, vendor management, and company reporting.
  • Support the operations team with day-to-day tasks including purchasing, scheduling, printing, scanning, etc.
  • Communicate with clients regarding schedule and progress updates via phone, email, and construction management software.
  • Answer the main company phone line and general email.
  • Manage the company website, updating employees, photos, projects, content and more.
  • Develop and maintain company documents and templates.
  • Develop and maintain company processes and policies.
  • Application and management of permits and inspections.
  • Application and management of licenses, insurances, and bonding.
  • Complete Payroll bi-weekly for all salaried and hourly staff.
  • Optional: Assist in the creation and management of the company’s content marketing strategies (social media, blogs, videos, etc.)

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • History of working in a construction company office environment
  • Bachelor's Degree or Business Diploma
  • Able to connect and communicate with people effectively
  • Experience and interest in Content Marketing is preferred.
  • Experience with the following software programs is preferred: JobTread, PayWorks, Plooto, Quickbooks Online, Webflow, MS Suite.

Shift Accessibility Contractors Ltd. is a general contracting company specializing in accessible and universal construction for homes throughout Calgary. We work directly with occupational therapists, homeowners, architects, and businesses to modify environments, making them accessible and more inclusive for people of all abilities.

  • Completing tasks as per the approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building codes while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Attend and provide feedback at project meetings with the Project and Operations Managers.
  • Proactively providing solutions to support ongoing projects.
  • Support and maintain a healthy, happy work environment and company culture.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Reliable transportation with a valid Driver's License
  • Pass Vulnerable Sectors Check
  • Be a 2nd or 3rd-Year Apprentice or Journeyman Carpenter
  • Able to connect with people effectively
